Quench mechanical seal

This system allows the standard mechanical seal to be mounted with a lip gasket to cool the seal. It is designed for applications where the product conditions require an additional thermal control and situations where contamination control is critical.

  • Failure prevention: The overheating and premature wearing of the seal is prevented. It helps to control the seal temperature, which improves its durability.

 Quench mechanical seal

Applications

Particularly suitable for products such as sugar and glucose syrups as well as other high-viscosity liquids or liquids containing solids. Also suitable for high-temperature and high-pressure environments.

It is ideal for working with sticky products, since when the agitator stops, the system allows the lubrication of the faces of the mechanical seal to be maintained and prevents them from sticking to each other when the operation is restarted.

This helps prevent mechanical seal failure, since in such applications, the faces of the mechanical seal are usually made from hard materials such as silicon carbide; these materials are wear-resistant but very fragile if subjected to impacts or unexpected adhesions.

Safety packing

This traditional but reliable sealing method remains relevant in current applications. It is used as an additional safety measure in case of the leakage or failure of the main mechanical seal or as an independent sealing method.

Safety packing

In the case of leakage, the packing can be adjusted slightly to reduce drip losses to a minimum, allowing operation to continue for a few hours or even days until the seal can be replaced.

This system is recommended as a back-up measure in critical applications where the safety of the product and process has top priority. It is ideal for moderate temperature and pressure conditions and for industries that require cost-effective solutions with minimal maintenance requirements.

This system can be useful if you do not have a spare mechanical seal available and have to wait to acquire one.



Hygienic design

The hygienic design of the mechanical seal means that the spring is not exposed to the product. It includes an optimised base plate and an optional hygienic flange for welding to the tank.

It prioritises easy cleaning and compliance with strict sanitary standards, making it ideal for the pharmaceutical and food industries.

This design minimizes dead zones and areas of residue accumulation that are difficult to clean with CIP, both in the seal area and at the flange.
