As Válvulas Borboleta Sanitárias A480, quer tenham acionamento manual ou automático, podem ser usadas na maioria das aplicações de produtos líquidos nas indústrias alimentar, farmacêutica e química. O desenho da válvula de borboleta entre flanges A490 facilita a sua instalação e manutenção, permitindo a sua extração através de 4 parafusos deixando fixo na tubagem as suas flanges. 

A válvula de borboleta pode ser acionada automaticamente por meio de um atuador ou manualmente com o manípulo. O manípulo bloqueia a válvula na posição de "aberto" ou "fechado", embora também existam outras versões com posições intermédias. O atuador transforma o movimento axial do pistão num movimento rotativo de 90º que transmite à borboleta.
